
Mandatory ID cards were implemented in UK between 1939 and 1952 as a means of protection from German spies during World War II.
GBAK 8 3 is Bill’s plate which he installed on his Ford as a memory of his ID card series (GBAK 8-3). The hyphen between 8 and 3 needed to be replaced with the space since Ontario does not allow hyphens in the licence plates.
